Competition: Playing Members

Playing members are eligible to enter our monthly medal competitions. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Members notify our Secretary, at least 48 hours in advance, of the date they intend to play in their Home Course Medal Competition.
  2. Members play their Home Course in the usual manner and submit their signed Home Card to their Match Secretary.  A copy of their card is made on our Sons of Carnoustie Club card and the Stableford score calculated.  Members then ask their Home Club  Match Secretary for the  Bogey rating(USA), CSS (UK), CSA(EC) or National equivalent, of the day and record it on our Sons of  Carnoustie card which is then forwarded to our site.
  3. The Members score is added to our competition score sheet in real time allowing members to follow the placing of their score  over time.
  4. At the end of each month, Stableford scores  are entered into the  appropriate prize categories of scratch, handicap (0-11,11-18,18+), senior Handicap (60 years+).  Adjustments are made by the Sons of  Carnoustie Match Secretary to Members individual Stableford score to “normalize” the playing of  different courses.
  5. The top 10 in each Category will be posted on our Club Board and the winner in each section will receive our Monthly Medal as well as being profiled on the Club Board.  Note: the scores of the top three members in each section will be confirmed by contacting the Home Club  Match Secretary.

Note: Our Club’s  focus is to bring international competition in a spirit of friendly rivalry and spirit and extend its members  leisure and enjoyment.  The Medal Competition Rules and  Handicap Categories will be reviewed in the light of the profiles of our final playing  membership to ensure as far as possible equal numbers of competitors in each Category.
